Christian Art

Christian art well I think this art is important to me especially because I am a Catholic person, but then I'm a little bit ashamed because I am a catholic person but I don't have enough background about the christian art. But I'm glad that my classmates already gave me some ideas on what is christian art all about. Well christian art is sacred because it portrays the Christianity, this art shows the life of Jesus. Christian art survives from dates near the origins of Christianity. The oldest surviving Christian paintings are from the Megiddo, dated to around the year 70, and the oldest Christian sculptures are from sarcophagi or sarcophagus. In this art they also tackled about the Cathedrals, Churches and Basilicas when see them you will really be amazed because of their architectures, the arts in ceiling, walls, windows door, altars etc. they are really relaxing when you want them because you can feel the presence of God.
This era also tackled about the four evangelist: Saint Luke, Saint Mark, Saint Matthew, and Saint john. St. Luke symbolizes Bull, St. Mark symbolizes Lion, St. Matthew symbolizes Man while St. John symbolizes Eagle. They also stated here the mother of Constantine, "Helena." Gothic art is also part of Christian art, Chartres is the best preserve Gothic architecture. Chartres  has 3 elements: the Portals, three horizontal division and triangular. Well, I think this era has an influence on my future artworks and design because it gives me idea on how to create a beautiful artwork and I think I can use this era as one of my inspirations.
